Caught this last year in London. Superb, dark mix of tight, edgy stand-up set against haunting dialogues with her own inner voice, which constantly mocks and undermines the disabled heroine's efforts to make it as a stand-up. Carr has the emotional depth to present both her own self-doubt and her comic brilliance at the same time. The result is uncomfortable, modern, literate drama of genuine quality.
