Original Review:
Andy Stuckey and John Murray are a musical comedy duo from Alabama and Vermont respectively, via New York. And, as their title suggests, they are premiering a show that is, basically, all about sex. They have some nice harmonies and the music is easy to listen to, if unchallenging both musically and lyrically. But what won me over was their natural charisma on stage. Whereas Stuckey drags the audience kicking and screaming in to his world, Murray gently jokes and kids along as the softer but just as engaging half of the duo.I would love to see them work one of the big late-night audiences in a bigger venue. Although the subject matter within this well-worn comedy topic is varied, ranging from unicorn sex to sex with each other, material about bodily functions does become tiresome. These are two clean-cut American boys cheekily talking dirty, which had the Americans in the room squealing in glee and the British wondering why. Not only could they have pushed the boundaries of lewdness more at this time of night, the material was just not clever enough to engage me for an hour. That said, their charm and stage presence carries the show, making it a much more enjoyable hour than it could otherwise have been. Reviewed by:Rosie Carnahan |
