Jarlath Regan: Nobody Knows ... Jarlath Regan
The award winning new face of Irish comedy makes his hugely anticipated Fringe debut. An hour of delightful comedy from the brain of the best Irish comedian you've never heard of.

Original Review:
You cannot help but like Jarlath Regan. He has a charming affability about him, and nothing seems to phase him. Technical issues are taken in his stride and are woven into his set to give us a bonus giggle. He apologises that he has left the hand-held fans he was going to give us at home, but has bought us a surprise instead. At this point I love Jarlath. Later I see him for the manipulative but clever man that he is, but as he hands out ice lollies, I just love him. The sugar wakes me up and I feel cool, newly able to concentrate on the lilting, gentle comedy that he shares with us. But as the first flush of love dies I realise I have been bought. I like this nice young man, but love? It is too soon in his career to say. His set is reminiscent of other whimsical Irish comedians, but without the sharp wit. His stories are wonderfully descriptive, and the greeting cards he uses like chapter titles are very funny, but without the charm he would struggle to keep the attention. There are plenty of giggles, but no belly laughs, in an enjoyable hour with an amiable man. Reviewed by: Rosie Carnahan |
