Original Review:
Alyssa suffers from standing on the same stage in the same
venue that last year hosted Laura Solon's brilliant Perrier -winning
show.
Laura Solon's show was a masterclass in how to write and perform
a series of character monologues. Alyssa's characters are far
less subtly drawn and performed.
So we have a loud audience member with a mobile phone, a female
clearly copied from Ali G doing an X-Factor audition, a self-loathing
woman calling to employ a hit man kill her
It all tends towards caricature rather than characterisation
and I suspect Alyssa is more performer than writer.
However - and it is a big however in the final character
of a pregnant hillbilly singer in an extravagant wig performing
a rousing knees-up of a song, Alyssa absolutely bloomed. She
suddenly became a potential star. My jaw dropped.
My guess and I could be wrong is that Alyssa is
trying to create and perform a subtle 9pm BBC Two comedy show
which would get well-reviewed in the broadsheets and much smarmed
about in the Groucho Club, but get low ratings. But she actually
has the potential to be a Saturday evening peaktime performer
in the Ant & Dec area - with giant ratings.
My advice: forget Oxbridge reviewers. Come back next year
with a Daily Mirror wham-bam populist show. To hell with subtlety.
Go OTT and become a star.

Funny, Dramatic and a great way to spend an evening. Ariadne and Life Coach were my favourite but the show as a whole was brilliant: well thought out and put together. Her talent shines.

A talented lady with a strong amoury of hilarious characters. Reserve the hour in your Edinburgh schedule NOW or you'll be sorry you missed it. In the words of one of her characters, Ariadne, she is... errr... beautiful

Alyssa s preview provided 9 characters and 1 hour of pure hysterics. Each character change created a new range of comedy that the whole audience could relate to. Time flew past as Lenora the life coach sank her manically depressed clients into further abyss and Adriana managed to insult the audience and the world whilst maintaining an air of brilliance. Superb.

I saw Alyssa at a preview, She was absolutely hilarious, had me laughing my head off. She is a true comic actress and her characters are frighteningly real. I adored the Greek high society character Ariadne, definitely her best. The show just flew, bound to be one of the highlights of the Edinburgh festival. Go see her.

£5 is a joke for a comedienne as good as this.I would have paid double! Each character is worth the entrance fee by themselves. However my favourite character was 'Low Self Esteem Girl' who is about as dark as it gets. You won't spend a better fiver this year

Caught a preview of this on Friday and was mightily impressed. Really rich and varied writing, and a fantastic range of characters. Hope this show does well at the Festival - it deserves to.

Alyssa is a sister of a friend, so I was worried about having to force laughter...instead she had me hooked from the start as the character turning up late and chatting with the audience. She is seriously talented and has great comic timing. To be honest I could wax lyrical for hours about her show and characters (Ariadne Ariadne being my favourite: "I am just so...beautiful!") - she will kill them in Edinburgh. Go see

I saw this at Goldsmiths college and thought it was truly amazing. The characters were brilliantly represented and recognisable. I thought the show was hilarious.
