Phil got off to a bit of a slow start, appearing somewhat edgy. But given his proven knack of manipulating audiences, this could have been but a part of his masterplan to build to a climax.
His energy and zest for anything puerile, juvenile and just downright silly is evident, and his childlike excitement certainly does rub off.
The sections where punters played instruments and engaged in stilted badinage were a bit laboured, but the final quarter, which featured the superb song Emotionally Challenged Girl left you with a feeling of forgiveness for the patchier areas. I certainly came out smiling.
