Make your own network

Top comics launch online venture

Star comics including Sarah Silverman and Reggie Watts have launched a new internet video company.

They joined forces with cult sketch duo Tim & Eric and Arrested Development and Juno star Michael Cera to set up Jash.

Launched at the SXSW creative festival in Texas yesterday, the collective says it is ‘the first fully realised network to offer all its comedic partners complete creative autonomy’.

Silverman told The Hollywood Reporter: ‘We each have pages within Jash and we each can curate those pages. This is what we think is funny.

‘It may not be your cup of tea, but there’s no testing involved, there’s no second-guessing of what a 14-year-old boy would like. It’s just a place to do stuff and fail or not fail.’

They have launched their YouTube channel with a five-minute trailer – below – but work in the pipeline is said to include a spoof film noir trailer from Silverman and a 25-minute short film from Cera.

Jash is said to be a play on the word ‘josh’ ... but the josh.com address had already been taken by a web developer.
