Mrs Brown's Boys gave me a heart attack

Pensioner was laughing too much

A fan of Mrs Brown’s Boys has claimed that he laughed so hard at the show that he had a heart attack.

Anthony Martin burst into uncontrollable laughter when Brendan O’Carroll’s Irish mammy put a stolen mobile phone down her knickers – then it began to vibrate.

But the 69 year-old started feeling dizzy, and when he went to see his GP was diagnosed as having a mild heart attack... and was then fitted with a pacemaker.

The grandfather from Carmarthen told The Sun: ‘I laughed my head off, I just couldn’t stop. Later I started feeling a bit dizzy; it was like I was walking around drunk.

‘It was literally so funny it gave me a heart attack.’

However, he may have escaped lightly.

In 1975, Alex Mitchell, from King's Lynn, died laughing while watching the The Goodies. He died of heart failure during a scene in which a kilt-clad Scotsman battled a master of the Lancastrian martial art Eckythump, armed with a black pudding.

And in 1989, 56-year-old Danish man Ole Bentzen died laughing while watching A Fish Called Wanda at the cinema.
