Russell Brand lays into 'Katy Perry' heckler

Russell Brand shot down a heckler who persistently yelled out the name of his ex-wife Katy Perry with a relentless string of insults – all caught on video.

He launched his ‘poem to the stupid’ after his show at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, on Saturday was subjected to the consistent interruptions.

The 36-year-old comic halted his set and turned up the house lights so he could find the heckler, then waded into the audience to berate him.

‘I wanna see what this person looks like,’ he said. ‘Turn the lights on for me because I want to achieve some sort of confirmation. Who's the person who keeps shouting that? Come here, let's see ya. Let's see how your mental illness looks in the daylight.

After other audience members identified him, he said:’ It's you, is it? Oh dear.

‘I was hoping that your personality was as a result of physical beauty, then I saw you. I thought this guy's confident probably because he's incredibly pretty, but look at you. You look like someone that's fallen off the outside of a church! And what is it that you have rattling inside of your mind? Some bizarre combination of alcohol and idiocy... and yet the confidence to continue shouting!"

‘They say of course, don't they, that empty vessels make the most noise. What an enormous echo of nothingness from you."

‘Silence is your friend. Keep your lips firmly, firmly clamped together. Because everything that comes out of your mouth, from your idiotic announcements to your disgusting halitosis that's coming through this room, is an abomination.

‘Remain there static and silent. Find god in the silence.’

He then mocked the man’s sexual techniques, his ‘grey jism, your impotent listless pummellings [and] your beer-stained sperm’.
