Cop comedy Vexed to return

Shooting starts on series 2

Shooting has begun on a second series of police comedy-drama Vexed.

The first series ran for just three episodes on BBC Two in summer 2010, which averaged an audience of 2.08million after dividing critics.

Toby Stephens is returning in the lead role of his role as DI Jack Armstrong, but Lucy Punch, who played his partner in the first run, is being replaced by Miranda Raison, whose credits include Spooks and Merlin.

Six hour-long episodes are being filmed in Dublin, to air later this year. The first episode will involve the pair investigating the murder of a cocky car salesman.

Jill Green, executive producer with Eleventh Hour Films said: ‘In a recession we need shows that make us laugh, and that’s where Vexed fits in - a perfectly distinctive “yin-yang” take on modern day life.’

Vexed has been ordered by BBC comedy commissioning head Cheryl Taylor and BBC controller Janice Hadlow.
