South Park renewed until 2016

And Stone & Parker will write them all

South Park will run until at least 2016, after creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone signed a new deal with US broadcasters Comedy Central.

The new contract will take the show – the longest-running animated series on American cable TV – up to its 20th season.

Under the terms of the deal Parker and Stone will have to write, direct and edit every episode –  as they have since the series began in 1997.

Comedy Central president Michele Ganeless said: ‘The collective genius of Matt and Trey knows no bounds. Week after week and season after season they continue to surprise and delight South Park fans, and that includes all of us here at Comedy Central.’
