O Briain to host Dave maths series

Dara O Briain is to front a maths-based comedy series for digital channel Dave.

Provisionally titled Dara O Briain’s University of Practical Maths, each 40-minute show will pose two problems. The Irish comic will solve them using equations, while a second guest comedian will work on a practical solution.

According to trade magazine Broadcast, challenges will include using a theory to determine to find the number of people someone should date before picking a partner, and using statistics to predict a football score.

The show is based on the Japanese show Comăneci University Mathematics, starring comic Beat Takeshi.

Eight episodes will be made by independent production house Wild Rover to air early next year.

O Briain studied maths and theoretical physics at University College Dublin before turning to comedy.
