Frankie Boyle 'working on new C4 show'

But Tramadol Nights won't be back

Channel 4 is planning a new show with Frankie Boyle – despite the problems the last one caused.

The controversial stand-up is developing a topical comedy for the station, which is likely to be piloted later this year.

However, a C4 spokeswoman told trade magazine Broadcast that the show was ‘very much a work in progress’.

The news comes as Channel 4's chief creative officer Jay Hunt confirmed that Tramadol Nights would not be returning.

In an interview with the Guardian, she added: ‘But he's a talented comedian and if we were to find the right kind of show for him then we would have him back.’

Boyle’s joke about Katie Price’s son Harvey in Tramadol Nights was found to have breached broadcasting guidelines, but no sanctions were made against Channel 4 – much to the model’s outrage
