Second helpings of Friday Night Dinner

C4 recommissions sitcom

Friday Night Dinner has been given a second series, Channel 4 has announced

The show, about two twentysomething brothers who have a meal with their parents every Friday, has averaged ratings of 1.4million over its first four episodes, or 2 million if the +1, on demand and repeat figures are added.

Creator Robert Popper said: ‘I am so happy to be making a second series of Friday Night Dinner for Channel 4. I can't wait to get writing in the same small room again for eight lonely months, talking to myself at regular intervals, and eating far too many biscuits.’’

The programme stars Tamsin Greig Simon Bird, Paul Ritter Tom Rosenthal, and Mark Heap.

Friday Night Dinner had the highest-performing debut episode of a new commissioned sitcom on Channel 4 since Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere in 2004.
