Gervais plans a film of the sitcom he's not yet made

Ricky Gervais says he wants to make a movie spin-off of his new sitcom Life's Too Short – even before filming has started on the TV series.

Production is to start on the BBC Two show soon, but Gervais already has his eyes on the big screen for the idea, loosely based on dwarf actor Warwick Davis’s experiences.

When asked about his future projects, Gervais said: ‘Maybe we can do a film of Life's Too Short.’

But co-writer Stephen Merchant warned: ‘Let's see how the series goes. Let's not get carried away.’

Gervais shot back: ‘Let's have it ready in case it's a success. Always plan for success.’

Gervais and Merchant will appear as versions of themselves in the series, which Ricky said was ‘sort of like Curb Your Enthusiasm’.
