Karl Edrick's funeral announced

Stand-up who died in Goa last month

The funeral of stand-up Karl Edrik, who died in Goa last month at the age of 39, has been announced.

It will take place at the Hither Green Crematorium, Verdant Lane, Lewisham, South London on Monday April at 19 at 2.30pm, followed by a wake at the Dolphin pub in Sydenham.

Karl’s brother Jim said: ‘My family and I would like to extend a warm welcome to all my brother’s friends who would like to... pay their last respects, raise a glass, swap stories and celebrate the life of an incredible individual who touched the hearts of many.’

Edrik – whose real surname was Manson – had struggled with drug abuse during his life. His 2007 Edinburgh show, Hari Krishna and the Philosopher’s Stoned revolved around a brandy-fuelled trip to India involving bisexual hookers, while in the ‘semi-autobiographical’ follow-up, he told of a drugs bust that led to him going on the run around Europe.
