X Factor comedy pilots

Former Coronation Street star Bruce Jones is hoping to star in a new TV comedy based on spoof X Factor contestants.

He has filmed a pilot episode of The Band, in which he plays the manager of Overdrive, a bunch of sex-crazed singing hopefuls.

Jones was sacked from this role as the Street's Les Battersby three years ago after a drunken tirade against his co-stars.

Another former Corrie star Scott Wright – who played mechanic Sam Kingston– plays one of the band members, alongside Hollyoaks' Lee Otway.

Other ex-soap stars in the cast include Peter Amory, who played Chris Tate in Emmerdale, and Suzanne Collins, who played Nikki Shadwick in Brookside.

Graham Norton’s production company So Television made the pilot, which is being pitched at Sky One or E4.
