John Cleese is to make a new series of adverts for Accurist watches, 30 years after starring in a memorable campaign for the company.

The company has announced that the comic, who is currently taking on more work to pay for his £12 million divorce from Alyce Faye Eichelberger, will lend his voice to the new ads, to air in the run-up to Christmas.

His award-winning commercials from the late Seventies – in which Cleese was seen selling the watches in a series of bizarre locations – were once voted among the world's ten best adverts.
