Best of which fest?

Brighton TV showcase has few links to festival

Channel 4 is to film a ‘best of the Brighton Comedy Festival’ stand-up showcase – but it won’t be taped in the city.

What’s more, half the bill don’t have their own shows at the 17-day festival, which is on now.

The hour-long Best of the Fest will be filmed at the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, West London, next Sunday, hosted by Russell Kane, who did perform in Brighton last night.

But the bill also includes Andrew Maxwell, Micky Flanagan and Ava Vidal – all circuit favourites but not part of the Magners-sponsored festival.

The only other comedian so far announced who does have a show at the festival is Andrew Lawrence, although others may join the bill before next weekend.

Tickets for the two-and-a-half hour recording, starting at 5.45pm on October 18, are available from the Riverside Studios website.
