Bruno's dead

Baron Cohen vows to kill off his creation

Sacha Baron Cohen is killing off Bruno – but admits it will be hard to let go of his creation.

He says that the success of his current movie means that – like Borat – it will be near impossible to hoodwink any more victims in the future.

But Baron Cohen will be sad to see his shallow fashionista go, not least because he spent so much time being him – staying in character for up to 14 hours a day at the height of filming.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, he said: ‘It’s wonderful that the films are successful, but every new person who sees the movie is one less person I can be Borat or Bruno with again.

‘So finishing a movie is having to say goodbye. Admitting that you’re never going to play a character is like saying goodbye to a loved one – and that’s hard.’

‘When I create a character like Borat or Bruno, I learn to live them, stay in them for a really long time and in some ways I do become them.’
