Burp with an Austrialian accent

Harry Hill format exported down under

Australia is to get its own version of Harry Hill’s TV Burp – only without Harry Hill.

Comedian Ed Kavalee will front the new version when it launches on the Seven channel later this year.

Kavalee is a radio presenter in Melbourne and is part of the ensemble cast of the improvised show Thank God You're Here, which failed to make an impact when ITV remake it with Paul Merton last year.

Kavalee said: 'My main job on TV Burp is to watch as much TV as I can. This is great because now when my housemates catch me watching [MTV reality show] The Hills I can honestly say, "It's for work I promise". Channel 7 have kindly set me up in their basement with a TV and some pizzas. I couldn't ask for more.'

Lisa Fitzpatrick at Seven said: 'We believe our audience is going to love TV Burp's unique style of celebrating television's "the week that was" and Ed Kavalee is just the man to lead the charge.'
