Fiennes joins Gervais movie

First casting news for Cemetery Junction

Ricky Gervais has persuaded Ralph Fiennes to star in his new film Cemetery Junction.

Gervais said it was ‘fantastic’ that the Schindler’s List star will star in the comedy about suburban twentysomethings working at a building society in the Seventies.

Writing on his blog, he said: ‘I bumped into him at the Toronto Film Festival and told him I had written a part with him in mind. I sent him the script and what do you know?

‘He is an amazing actor and will bring a real weight to the movie. Can’t wait.’

Gervais and co-writer Stephen Merchant are currently scouting locations for the movie – originally titled The Men From The Pru – and filming will begin later this year.
