Sony nominees announced

Arthur Strong and Now Show up for awards

Count Arthur Strong and The Now Show are in the running for a Sony Radio Award.

The Radio 4 shows have been nominated for best comedy, alongside Miranda Hart's Joke Shop on Radio 2, 606 with Danny Baker on 5 Live and Adam and Joe on 6 Music.

Johnny Vegas is also up for a Sony – but for best drama, thanks to his version of The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists

The other shows shortlisted in the category, all from Radio 4, are Cavalry, Goldfish Girl, Mr Larkin's Awkward Day and The Color Purple.

In the Internet Programme Award, nominees include the comedy podcast Answer Me This!, made by Olly Mann and Helen Zaltzman, which has been shortlisted alongside the Guardian’s Media Talk, RSPB podcast Nature’s voice, Rethinkdaily, and the Budgerigar and the Prisoner, a produced by the Clifton Christian diocese in Bristol

Winners will be revealed at a ceremony hosted by Chris Evans at London’s Grosvenor House on May 11.

Meanwhile, the nominations for the craft Baftas have also been announced.

Peep Show creators Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong are in the running for best writer, alongside Simon Block for The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall, Russell T Davies for Doctor Who and Peter Moffat for Criminal Justice.

And online comedy Toyboize, about a once-famous boy band ten years on, has been nominated for best interactive creative contribution, alongside Charlie Brooker’s zombie thriller Dead Set, Channel 4’s Year Dot, which tracks new talent trying to break into the arts, and the National Theatre’s Team – Discover online tour.

These winners will be announced on April 20.
