Kinison movie in the works

Late comic's life remembered

The life of American comedian Sam Kinison is to be turned into a movie.

Relatively unknown actor Dan Fogler, whose biggest role was starring in the 2007 ping-pong comedy Balls Of Fury, has been lined up the play the vitriolic stand-up.

Kinison was a former preacher who became disillusioned, and who used comedy to rant against Christianity and the Church, among other targets. But he died in a car crash in 1992, aged just 38.

The film, titled Brother Sam, is based on the memoir of the same name, written by Kinison’s brother and manager Bill.

Tom Shadyac, who directed The Nutty Professor and Bruce Almighty will direct the film for the HBO premium cable channel.
