Ricky's added Extras

Gervais plans one more episode

Ricky Gervais has a plan to bring back Extras for one more show.

The comic says he has an idea for another Christmas special – but that co-writer and co-star Stephen Merchant will take some convincing.

Gervais wants to see how his character Andy Millman fares trying to make it in Hollywood – a storyline which would allow him to draw on his own experiences with American movie execs.

In an interview with Zoo magazine, Gervais said The Office had to finish when it did, but Extras could go ‘on and on’, adding that the characters in Extras were better.

He said: ‘The truth is I have an idea for one more Extras, which would work best as another Christmas special. I think it would be funny to see Andy trying to make it in Hollywood.

‘The problem is, I don't think Stephen Merchant wants to do it. But I reckon he will if I insist.’
