Maggie Simpson finds her voice

...and it's Jodie Foster's

Maggie Simpson is to be given a proper voice for the first time in the animated show’s 19-year history.

Jodie Foster will provide the voice of a grown-up Maggie in a fantasy episode in which the Simpson characters visit the worlds of Macbeth and Queen Elizabeth I.

So far, baby Maggie has only uttered one word on the show, ‘Daddy’, which was voiced by Elizabeth Taylor.

Foster’s episode, entitled Four Great Women And A Manicure, is due to air in early 2009, and also features reworkings of Citizen Kane and Forties Gary Coper film The Fountainhead.

Princess Diaries star Anne Hathaway is also due to make a guest appearance on the 20th series of he Simpsons, which starts on Fox in the US on September 28.

Hathaway voices a good-as-gold girl who Bart falls for when she moves in next door.
