New Student Comedy finalists

Paul Longley has made it through to the final of Chortle’s Student Comedy Award after winning the people’s choice vote.

The 19-year-old, who is studying comedy writing and performance at Southampton Solent University, secured a narrow victory after almost 2,200 votes were cast.

He now goes on to the Edinburgh Fringe final, which will take place at the Pleasance Dome at 11pm on August 12.

Here is his set from the Southampton heat of the competition.

Chortle can also announce another finalist, Jack Heal, who has been selected by judges as the best runner-up over all ten regional heats.

The Warwick University maths student, who turns 21 this weekend, took part in the Coventry heat. Here is his performance.

And here is a compilation reel of all the other finalists.
