Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz has hired three of the show’s stars for a new animated comedy.

Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler – still best known as The Fonz – have been recruited to help him get the new cartoon, Sit Down, Shut Up off the ground.

The Fox network has given the go-ahead for a ‘table read’ of a commissioned pilot script before deciding whether to proceed with a fill series.

Stand-up Maria Bamford will also be in the cast, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The show is based on a live-action sitcom which ran for 13 episodes on Australia's Channel Ten in early 2001, about an incompetent teacher at a dysfunctional school.
