Billy holds on to DVD No1

But Alan Carr's coming up strong

Billy Connolly has held on to the top position for the bestselling stand-up DVDs for the third week running.

Although the Big Yin’s latest release, Was It Something I Said, slipped one place down the overall DVD chart to number 12, it still topped the stand-up list.

Alan Carr has climbed the chart for the third week running, and is now the second bestselling comedian, and No 17 in the overall chart.

He is outselling the likes of more established names such as Ricky Gervais, Jimmy Carr and Al Murray.

Meanwhile, Peter Kay’s DVD is still selling strongly, despite containing no new stand-up material, merely compiling clips from earlier releases with interviews with fans about how much they love his material.

Away from comedy, films for youngsters dominate the DVD chart, with the top five being Transformers, High School Musical 2, Shrek The Third, Pirates Of The Caribbean At World’s End and Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix.

But the top stand-up bestellers are:

  1. Billy Connolly: Was It Something I Said
  2. Alan Carr: Tooth Fairy Live
  3. Peter Kay: Stand-up Ukay
  4. Ricky Gervais: Fame
  5. Jimmy Carr: Comedian
  6. Russell Brand: Doing Life, Live
  7. Al Murray The Pub Landlord Live At The London Palladium
