C4 sitcom wins 1m extra viewers

The IT Crowd gathered almost a million new viewers on Friday.

Graham Linehan's Channel 4 Sitcom Sitcom was seen by 3.4million people – a huge hike on the series two premiere seven days earlier.

Audience figures swelled because the 9.30pm show was sandwiched into the live finale of Big Brother.

The ratings – representing 16 per cent of all viewers at the time – are twice the 1.7 million series one averaged.
