Allo again

Wartime sitcom returns

‘Allo 'Allo is returning for a one-off special after a 15-year absence, the BBC has confirmed.

The new show, which will reunite the original cast, is being recorded this month, and will be screened later in the spring.

Gorden Kaye will reprise his role as cafe owner Rene Artois for the recording in Manchester, although Carmen Silvera, who played his wife Edith died in 2002, aged 80.

As well as the new episode, written by series creator Jeremy Lloyd, there will also be an accompanying documentary, celebrating the show.

The studio audience at the March 22 recording have been asked to wear wartime fancy dress for that programme.

The series originally ran on BBC One from 1982 to 1992, and the last episode saw Rene’s French town liberated from Nazi occupation.Click to view a clip of the original series.
