Stardom starts here

America's Last Comic Standing visits UK

America’s biggest televised hunt for comedians has been recommissioned for a fifth series – and this time the talent scouts are coming to London.

NBC’s Last Comic Standing reality show is boasting that it is now not only looking for the best comedian in America – but the world.

And the UK audition will be on Monday March 12, at the Comedy Store in London.

Producers will also be making stops in Sydney and Montreal as well as the heats in Los Angeles, New York, Minnesota, Arizona and Texas.

Auditions are all open-call affairs, which means anyone can show up to perform. Acts must perform two minutes of material in front of a panel of judges, who will be there from 9am.

Successful acts join the reality show, which charts their progress the road as they are given tips and advice by more experienced hands. But in true reality TV style, one is voted out each week.

The US heats kick off at the Hollywood Improv at 9am on February 26; followed by New York’s Gotham Comedy Club on March 21, Minnesota’s on March 27; San Antonio’s River Center Comedy Club on March 30 and the Tempe Improv in Arizona on April 3.

Scouts will also be in Sydney on March 7 and Montreal on March 17.

Comic Bill Bellamy, pictured, will take over as host for the fifth series, which averaged 8.1million viewers last season.
