Too much Branding

Russell rapped for DVD plugs

Russell Brand has been told off by his BBC bosses for plugging his products on air.

The comic, who will transfer fro 6 Music to Radio 2 this week, has been rebuked for urging listeners to buy his stand-up DVD.

In the introduction to the latest podcast version of his 6 Music show, Brand says: ‘Buy the DVD. Buy all our products.’

Sidekick Matt said: ‘Buy all Russell’s dodgy merchandising that he’s starting to knock out – like pants that say ’Citing on them – because he’s sold out entirely.’

Brand's show is the one of the most popular podcasts in the UK after Ricky Gervais

A BBC spokeswoman said: ‘Lesley Douglas [the controller of Radio 2 and 6 Music] has talked to Russell and his team and reminded them of BBC editorial guidelines.’

Brand’s DVD – recorded at London’s Shepherds Bush Empire last month – is out on November 20. Click here to buy
