Simpsons movie out 2007

US audiences see teaser trailer

Trailers teasing the long-awaited Simpsons movie are being shown in US cinemas.

The 25-second spots, running before screenings of Ice Age: The Meltdown, promise that the movie will be released in July 27 year.

Audiences see a giant superhero S on the screen, with a voiceover intoning: ‘Leaping his way onto the silver screen – the greatest hero in American history!

It then cuts to Homer Simpson in his underwear, who says: ‘I forgot what I was supposed to say.’

The narrator then promises: ‘The Simpsons Movie. Coming to the screen, July 27, 2007.’

To which homer replies: ‘Uh, we better get started…’

Work on the movie started last year. Until then, producers had always said the movie would not be made until the TV show had run its course, for fear of diluting the weekly episodes.

The TV series is currently in its 17th series, and last month, US network Fox confirmed two more seasons would be made, taking it through to at least 2008.
