TV deals for Demetri & Conchords
Perrier winner Demetri Martin and nominees Flight Of The Conchords have struck TV deals with America's NBC network.
The comics were uncovered by talent scout Lisa Leingang while trawling the New York comedy circuit.
Details of the deal, which involves developing new programmes, have been kept under wraps
But agent Hannah Chambers, who represents both the 2003 Perrier-winner and the New Zealand folk parodists in Britain, said the deal was a "fantastic opportunity for them to break into the large American television market that NBC is renowned for".
"They will have full access to the best writing talent and production teams," she added.
Leingang also signed the popular Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre for a similar deal.
NBC vice president Marc Hirschfeld praised her ability to seek out talent, telling trade magazine The Hollywood Reporter: "She is totally tapped into the New York comedy scene She is an incredible resource, both on the writing and talent side."Published: 8 Oct 2004
