Smack The Pony star Sally Phillips is to star in a new Radio 4 sitcom about a social worker.

Her character Clare Barker is a social worker who “secretly regards herself a cross between Mother Theresa and Wonder Woman”.

A BBC spokesman added: “She is in her early thirties, white, middle class and heterosexual, all of which are occasional causes of discomfort to her.”

The show, Clare In The Community, also stars Gemma Craven, Alex Lowe and Nina Conti.
