Frank goes straight

Skinner makes a dramatic debut

Frank Skinner is to make his radio acting debut in a straight drama later this month.

The comic stars in the adaptation of Jonathan Coe's Seventies-based novel The Rotters' Club.

It's a coming-of-age story of Birmingham teenager Benjamin Trotter, discovering politics, music and furtive sex as Britain is hit by huge upheavals in society

Frank plays Sam Trotter, the father of Ben, alongsideHames Bradshaw, Stacey Roca and Haydn Gwynne.

The four-part series has been dramatised by News Quiz scriptwriter Simon Littlefield, and starts at 11.30am on Wednesday October 29.

Skinner will soon be starring in his own ITV1 sitcom, Shane, as a "wise cracking and politically unreconstructed minicab driver".
