Jackie Hamilton dies

Veteran of The Comedians was 65

Old-school comedian Jackie Hamilton died yesterday at the age of 65.

The Liverpudlian funnyman featured on the Seventies TV show The Comedians and was gigging just a fortnight ago, topping the bill in front of a 900-strong home town audience.

But he had a stoke a few days ago, from which he never recovered.

Fellow comic Sean Style told the Liverpool Daily Post: "In my opinion he was an absolute master-class of comedy timing.

"I almost learned my trade as a young lad watching Jackie Hamilton, Micky Finn and Stevie Faye. When I worked with him it was a like a young lad playing football with Pele."
