A question of comedy

Tommy Tiernan and Dave Spikey are to take part in a new BBC1 quiz game dedicated to classic comedy shows.

Whoops TV is described as "the love child of Have I Got News For You and Telly Addicts" and will revolve around clips from favourite, and obscure, sitcoms from the corporation's archives.

Music critic Stuart Maconie chairs the pilot episode, which will be aired only in the north of England on Monday July 7 at 11.05pm.

Perrier-winner Tiernan and Phoenix Nights star Spikey will be the team captains, and will be joined by Jackie Clune and Alan Carr.

The pilot show promises footage of Molly Sugden in a comedy that sunk without trace called Come Back Mrs Noah and an Indian version of Yes, Minister.
