Vegas to play Harry Secombe

Johnny Vegas has landed a role in the new Peter Sellers film biography, playing Harry Secombe.

The comic is to star alongside Shine star Geoffrey Rush in The Life And Death Of Peter Sellers.

Seventies pop star turned Crystal Maze host Ed Tudor-Pole has won the role of Sellers' other Goon show colleague, Spike Milligan.

A spokesman for producers BBC Films said that Sellers was "an important part of our cultural heritage".

However, Sellers' son Michael has previously rubbished the film, saying that Roger Lewis's biograrahy, on which it is based, was "unintelligible rubbiish."
