Jim's £50,000 lawsuit

Woman sues over pier accident

Jim Davidson is being sued for £50,000 by a woman who claims she was injured on his property.

Deputy headteacher Mary Kyne, 51, says she slipped on Great Yarmouth's Wellington Pier, which the comic holds the lease on

She claims she fell on wet grass growing between uneven paving stones, and had been unable to return to work.

Davidson took over a 99-year lease on the pier from Yarmouth Borough Council, with the first 25 years rent and rates free, provided he carried out vital maintenance work.

Davidson appeared in Norwich County Court yesterday for a brief initial hearing behind closed doors.

Outside court, he said little about the case but told the Eastern Daily Press: "In two weeks time I'm going to Gibraltar, then Bosnia, then Kuwait and I'm trying to get into Basra. It will last two and a half weeks. I'll be ducking bullets."
