The BBC is release a batch of classic comedy on DVD, including the entire first series of The Young Ones.

The groundbreaking sitcom has already sold more than 500,000 videos, and the corporation will be hoping the DVD emulates that success.

Six episodes, which first ran in 1982, will feature on the three-hour disc.

Also released on August 5 is the complete first series of The Fast Show, which first aired in 1994.

This disc also contains new interviews with stars Paul Whitehouse, Charlie Higson, Arabella Weir, Mark Williams and Simon Day.

Other titles out on the same day include The Very Best Of Bottom (five episodes, plus five minutes of previously unseen material), The Best Of French and Saunders and The Best Of Victoria Wood.
