What the Dickens!

Baddiel pays £3,000 for author's card

David Baddiel has paid £3,000 for a business card signed by Charles Dickens.

He bought the card from a New York memorabilia shop called I Gotta Have It.

The comic will discuss the purchase in tonight's edition of Baddiel And Skinner Unplanned, Ananova reports.

He says: "He'd written a little note on the back of it to some mate of his saying 'let this bloke into my house.'

Baddiel - an English graduate who wrote a PhD thesis on Victorian sexuality - said Dickens was keen on amateur theatre and used his cards as calling cards.
