The new Spitting Image'

Animated satire leads ITV comedies

A satirical cartoon show billed as a Spitting Image for the new millennium heads a new bundle of comedy shows from ITV.

Six episodes of 2DTV have been commissioned following a successful 10-minute pilot earlier this year.

It heads a new raft of shows commissioned by the network's controller of comedy Sioned Wiliam and announced on the industry website produxion.com.

Also included is a second series of Uncle Silas, reordered before the first run has been screened.

The show, written by Darling Buds of May author HE Bates, will star Albert Finney and Sue Johnston.

Johnson also stars alongside Linda Bellingham in an hour-long pilot This Is Now.

And High Stakes, the international banking sitcom starring Richard Wilson, will also get a second series.
