Goon boon

Lost treasures unearthed

A treasure trove of original Goon Show recordings, scripts and photographs has been unearthed.

The precious haul also includes puppets from the Telegoons TV show as well as amateur film of Harry Secombe, Peter Sellers, Spike Milligan and Michael Bentine goofing around between radio recordings and six scripts with handwritten notes by producer Peter Eton.

The material was left to the Goon Show Preservation Society in the will of its former chairman George Brown.

Although he died five years ago, the material has only recently surfaced.
Now the society is transferring the cache onto CD Rom.

Secretary Steve Arnold told the Sunday Times: "We've located several shows which not even the BBC has got copies of."
