3. Ten shows with really contrived titles

Edinburgh 10x10

For better and for worse…

1. Lol-ocaust

What could be funnier than evoking genocide for your comedy show? But if you think newcomers Ant Craven and Tom Goble are going for cheap bad taste with their title, check out the picture - which shows them with Nazi-style armbands and making Hitler moustaches with their fingers - and the blurb about ‘turning on the laughing gas’. Oh dear. Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters 23:30

2. McLough-Hess Monster

Had to be done. Last year’s Chortle Student winner Adam Hess shares and hour - and a wonderfully contrived title - with Sean McLoughlin. Laughing Horse @ Jekyll & Hyde 16:30

3. Paul T. Eyres: T. Eyres Of A Clown

Ah yes, very good. See what you did there... Laughing Horse @ Espionage 22:00

4. Dave Thornton: The Some Of All The Parts

How does that even make sense? What does it mean? Guess you need to go to this Aussie’s show to find out. Gilded Balloon 21:20

5. Bus-ting To Laugh

It’s on a bus, of course. We presume the title was done in a rush... Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters 18:45

6. Joe Lycett: Some Lycett Hot

An amusing (though it shouldn’t really be) title for this charming comic’s debut. But what is it with  Chortle Student Comedy Award winners and their puns? Lycett won the title in 2009. Pleasance Courtyard 20:30

7. Hi Noon!

Musical comedy duo on at - you guessed it - midday. Just The Tonic At The Caves 12:00

8. David O’Doherty: Seize The David O’Doherty

Well, if you’re going to do wordplay, you might as well make it as tortured as possible. Probably a good job he’s already proved himself a festival favourite without the need for elegant titles... Pleasance Courtyard 19:20

9. Folken Britain

We assume character comedian Susan Harrison’s show has something to do with folk music, even though her  Fringe brochure entry makes no mention of such a thing. But even more points for contrivance if it doesn’t.... Le Monde 17:30

10. Suzi Ruffell: Let’s Get Ready To Ruffell

It nearly works. But doesn’t.  See also Fliss Russell: Life Is Fliss, Seann Walsh: Seann To Be Wild and Eric Davidson: The Only Way is Eric’s.  Pleasance Courtyard 18:00
