Biography

Lee was exposed to the demands of showbiz at an early age. His father, entertainer Dave Evans, still performs at clubs and pier ends. As he says: "My brother and I grew up in digs, theatres and clubs. We used to sit in the back of the car or be stuck backstage taking to dancers while Dad was doing his act."

After a spell as a boxer, and two years at art school in Essex, Lee decided to follow in his father's footsteps. The first four years were spent touring working men's clubs, the next five on the alternative circuit. Like a lot of now-established comics, his break came in 1988 at the Edinburgh Festival.

Lee Evans is the most funny guy today. His XL tour 2005 was so fabulous. What a comic genius.

Emma Davis, September 2006

Saw XL tour and not only was it a surprisingly disappointing set, his encore was a bizarrely sentimental, serious (self penned?) song that left the audience looking at each other totally confused. Lee you are undoubtedly very talented - why isn't your manager reigning you in on this kind of self indulgence?

Lisa, July 2006

Lee Evans is one of the best comedians of our time... a true master of laughter

Rebecca, June 2006

Best act ever

Ryan, June 2006

Hmmm... Frickin' eh? Uses this Americanism, and others far too much. Saw him support 'The Secret Cabaret' 12 years ago, and he's still doing the same gags. Just because he sweats and looks like he's putting an effort in, doesn't mean he's a genius

Mark, June 2006

I went to see Lee Evans when his XL Tour visited Sheffield - never stopped laughing all the way through the entire show. He is the King of Comedy. So much energy and plenty of funny faces

James Bussey, April 2006

Words cant describe how hillarious he is. He is truly the best comedian of our time. The songs are wicked as well

Dan, March 2006

How many other comedians can you list that put in as much effort as Lee Evans in every single performance he does? He's not only hilariously funny, but his acts feature a massive variety of topics that everyone can relate to. A pure comic genious
