John Flint John Flint

This likeable Scot has an entertaining manner, yet appears to be costing with his uninspired material.

Much of it is very limited in scope - ginger people, the terrible Scottish climate, football and the Spice Girls - yet he's actually billed as a political comedian.

He does tackle some 'topical' subjects, though this rarely extends beyond the sort of news stories that provide the easiest of targets, such as the man discovered in flagrante with a goat - a tale that was already months old by the time he mentioned it.

Yet however tired the topic, Flint does still manage to raise more than the occasional smile despite the fact that his delivery isn't especially warm as he tends to talk at the audience, rather than to them.

Ventures into less predictable territories do prove more fruitful, even if the maximum potential isn't always realised. For example, his take on asylum seekers - the only political material on show - does prove one of the more amusing segments, though the routine is never really allowed to take off.
