What the hell is wrong with these people saying he's racist and offensive? He came across as a very morally upright man. I loved the way Ian lured you into this awkward sort of feeling and then delivered a subtle punchline that catches you off guard.

Outpsoken and on the ball, you won't find a better comic on the circuit. Top notch stuff.

Racist, homophobic, totally unfunny. This guy takes comedy back to the dark ages. Unfortunately there are still people who think it's funny if a comedian's aim is to shout offensive material as loudly and passionately as possible.

Ian Cognito’s brand of humour came recommended through a friend who had first seen him perform back in the 80’s. I went along to see his extended set at the excellent Monkey Business Comedy Club at Camden’s Bar Solo last Friday. His reputation exceeded my expectations by a wide margin as within minutes of him clambering over chairs to reach the microphone I realised Cognito was one of the funniest stand-ups I’ve seen in years. The audience were treated to a high octane performance with an often brutal delivery of a broad portfolio of subjects from the ubiquitous knob gags to terrorism and from IT illiteracy to the extramarital sex habits of former US presidents. Comedy is moving on and Cognito carries a torch into territory where many fear to tread, sailing close to the wind with his audience (ladies in the front row beware!) and treating controversial topics with a unique blend of caustic irony and provocative recital. It’s a pity there isn’t a DVD available to buy - go see him!

A true craftsman who makes self proclaimed "edgy" or "dangerous" comics look like the frauds they are. Cogs is a genuine outlaw comic and fucking funny with it.

What a truly punk performance! In Doncaster last night he was electrifying. If he had started the perfromance with a quick '1..2..3..4!' it wouldn't have been out of place. A great comic & one I'll not forget!

I feel that you Reading folk haven't quite got the point. Watch him again. A true master of the art. A festival's not the best place to watch comedy. See him in some smokey club. While you can
