Original Review:
Frightfully frightfully well-spoken newcomer Helen Keen aims for a darkly surreal set, including an odd routine about clowns and serial killers as well as bizarre ponderings about Queen Elizabeth I.She has a wandering style, with overly wordy set-ups she seems to lack confidence in, so the audience need to show a little patience as she talks around her esoteric topics.
uckily her punchlines are funny and distinctive, and she can deliver a sharp one-liner when needed, so that patience is rewarded. If only she could lose some of that unnecessary padding… Date of review: Feb 2007

Just brilliant!

Can't think of a more bizarre approach since Omid Djalili, or a funnier one either. Takes the oddest topics, turns 'em upside down, and delivers everything in a macabre monotone. No idea why it works, but it does. Hilarious

Very, very funny. Lots of dark but silly jokes - Catholic limbo, true crime books. Really original stuff.

I saw her on Sunday night and thought she was very imaginative and funny and I'm looking forwards to hopefully seeing her again performing a longer set.

Very funny, beautifully written and an understated delivery. Will be a big-time writer within 6 years.

Had some really interesting and original material in the Hackney final. Would love to see her do longer.
