I'm a squaddie in Iraq, and she did a show for us and was fuckin fantastic. How many namby pamby middle class comics could come out here and make a group of paras laugh? And if she only did stuff about being black she would have got no laughs, as she was the only one in the room! She's great.

Why is it than when black comics talk about their origins, they are lambasted as hacks? This really smacks of racism. Northern comics go on about their roots, as do Irish, even ginger comics. Gina simply covers some of her upbringing in her act as well as other observastional stuff. If it wasn't funny, she wouldnt be selling out huge theatres, to both black and white people the way she does.

One of the funniest acts I have ever seen. Easily the best set of the night.

While appreciating that an edited five minute set on the radio does few comics justice, what I've just heard on BBC 7 has prompted me (for the first time ever) to seek to confirm my own opinions via the Internet. It's not just the fact that she's a bad comedian but, having done the same schtick for the last ten or so years, she's a lazy one. Formulaic, repetative, needlessly aggressive and lazy. Which could all, of course, be forgiven if she was remotely amusing.

What can I say? I watched Miss Yashere and the only conclusion I came to was that she's made very little go a long way. As others have said Chris Rock, Richard Pryor etc made a career out of "being black" but that was because they were innovative, clever and absolutely hilarious. Gina's act is rubbish, trying to stand on the shoulders of giants. I note that certain pc tv shows have used her as the black space filler in order to satisfy racial quotas. It's not enough. Quality, not quantity. The black talent is out there but to rush through the nearest black comedian to hand is counterproductive. None of this is Gina's fault of course, but sorry gal - you haven't got what it takes.

Very very funny

Hilarious - would pay see her again

Gina is another in a long line of massivly overated comics to be given spots on TV ahead of the vastly more talented.
